5. El Kafe- Humacao
El Kafe in Humacao is a cute coffee shop with plenty of seating space. Enjoy a cup of coffee or choose from a healthy flavorful menu. 6. Dulce Arte- Yabucoa
Dulce Arte is a sweet spot we happened to stumble upon when visiting my dad’s hometown, Yabucoa. These are my favorite kinds of places because they are hidden gems frequented by locals. It was an early morning, and we were pretty hungry after driving up the mountains. Dulce Arte offers a great menu with breakfast and lunch options, as well as coffee, lattes, and pastries. My daughter and I had the French toast (layered with cinnamon toast crunch), which was SO yummy and SO filling! And for the road, we got some quesitos and donuts, which were also delicious.

7. Pancafé Bakery- Culebra
PanCafé is another local gem. Culebra is a beautiful little island with limited options for food and shopping but they do not disappoint. This spot has some of the best homemade sugary donuts- my only regret was only buying two because I got hungry after swimming and ate both of them leaving my husband to wonder where his donut went. Whoops! haha This spot also has coffee, juices, alcoholic beverages, breakfast, lunch, baked goods, and more. Tip: Make this your first stop upon arrival to Culebra.

8. El Rincón Del Lector- Camuy
A bookstore and brunch? Say no more! This locally owned cafe has an amazing menu accompanied by books and a cozy place to read and discuss with friends. Panadería España, located in Carolina, has it all. Get it all to go or pull up a chair and enjoy some breakfast or lunch in the popular bakery. This is always a must-stop for us when visiting Puerto Rico. We grab a few loaves to take with us to our rental- pan criollo, pan sobao, and some pan de Mallorca. We also make sure to get donuts or quesitos, too. There is nothing like the bakeries in PR.
