As the Winter season finally begins to wind down, we thought a weekend at Killington, Vermont would make for a fun road trip. My daughter is part of the ski club at school. She’s done a few day trips but this one was a whole weekend. It’s been years since we visited Vermont. The last time was when she was three so we decided to join her.
If you’ve ever been on a road trip, you know the car you choose to ride in is quite an important factor. For this road trip, we got to ride in the Toyota Avalon 2018. You’re probably thinking a minivan or SUV would’ve been ideal for a trip to Vermont but the Avalon was just perfect! It had all the bells and whistles and was very comfortable. Heated leather seats with sufficient leg room, a fully loaded dashboard that comes with GPS, safety sensors that let you know when you’re next to another vehicle or too close to the next lane, good trunk space and more. The car even knows how long you’ve been driving and asks if you need to pull over for coffee on the dashboard. It truly is a great road trip car 🙂

A Weekend at Killington, Vermont
We went to Killington, Vermont– a popular ski area known for its Killington and Pico Mountain downhill ski resorts. It’s a great place to visit all year long, especially for the active traveler. When the snow melts, it’s great for hiking, golf, and cycling. It’s family friendly, too.
For beginners, there are lessons and areas to practice on like “the magic carpet” or the “learn to ski” trails. There are also lifts to take, outdoor bars with fire pits and more. There really is a lot to do.
Some of you may have followed along on my Instagram posts. I got so many questions from readers asking if I skied. The answer is no. Because I suffer from sciatica, I did not ski. I have been practicing some yoga exercises, so there is a chance bye may be able to do it next time. There is plenty to do if you’re not into skiing or snowboarding. You can take a ski lift and enjoy the view, go on the little roller coaster, enjoy waffles with hot cocoa by a fire as you watch others ski or sit at the bar tent and have a cocktail with friends. You can also go snow tubing or snowshoeing (which is like hiking but in the snow).
I did enjoy the scenery and watching my daughter ski and have a good time with her friends. One of the scariest things I got to do was take a “gondola” up to the Beast. It’s very high up but the view was so worth it. If you get to visit, this is a must-see. Once you get to the top, experienced skiers can ski down or take the gondola back. There is also a nice bar/ restaurant at the top, too.
Sometimes, you just have to stop everything and clear your mind. A road trip is a good way to do that. Don’t you agree?
