If there’s one thing I love it’s when fashion and a good cause come together to help make a difference in the world. So, when I was asked to be an ambassador for the Milk + Bookies organization, I was beyond excited. I fully support any cause that helps children enrich their imagination and knowledge. Being a mom, I read to my daughter ever since she occupied my womb. And now, at almost 10, she still LOVES to read. We were going through so many trips to Barnes & Noble (she’d complete a book in a day!) until we decided to get her a library card. She’s one of the regulars there now.
As an ambassador, I was invited to do story time at the babyGap of Garden State Plaza mall. I admit, I was a little nervous as I am soft spoken but everything turned out great. I brought my little one with me which was great, too. Setting positive examples for her as often as I can is always a good thing.
The staff at babyGap were super welcoming and accommodating. And their set up was just adorable! Everything from the cookies to the coloring station. I got to read two stories featuring Roger Hargreaves iconic characters. Mr. Strong and Little Miss Hugs. Both stories were simply adorable and had a positive message behind them. It sure brought back memories as I remember my mother reading these stories to me as a child and later I read them to my daughter.
babyGap collaborated with Milk + Bookies to help collect gently used books for children. The organization donates the gently used books to children at local Boys and Girls clubs. It’s a wonderful program that helps give less fortunate children the chance to enjoy the magic of reading! At the same time, BabyGap launched their new “Mr. Men & Little Miss” limited edition toddler collection. If you haven’t checked it out yet, believe me you will love the adorable new collection.
It was truly a fun and rewarding experience at the same time. Here are some pictures below and a video for an inside look!
Special thanks to the hubby for snapping these photos and to Dave Riboul of Eyes at Dawn for the video 🙂
