When the big O reopens for the Mets to play, you spend a weekend in Montreal. Winter is not an ideal time for me to travel since I hate the cold weather, but I’m always up for a getaway. No, I don’t get excited about baseball so much but I do love to explore so that was my reason for agreeing to the trip. The hubby loves his team and I love road trips… so I guess we compromised?
Montreal in the Winter Time
On a visit to Montreal, Canada the best thing to do is layer up. The lovely city was still covered in snow with temperatures in the high 30’s so I thought it best to go with multiple layers to stay stylish but keep me warm.
I chose my cozy wool wrap coat by Michael Kors for this look. I love this coat because it’s classic and you can tie it, layer it, and it’s super warm. I layered a sweater crop top over a white button down. I paired this combo with faux leather pants that are fleece lined. And I went with an edgy sandal (just for you guys!). It was cold but I must say these shoes are comfy and I didn’t feel cold with them on. All for fashion. lol

About Montreal: The metropolis of the province of Quebec. Quebec City is the political capital but Montreal is the cultural and economic capital of Quebec and the main entry point to the province. It’s the second largest city in Canada. It is a city rich in culture and history and a well-deserved reputation as one of the liveliest cities in North America. Montreal is the second-largest French-speaking (mother language) city in the world, behind Paris. Montreal is a city with several articles containing sightseeing, restaurant, nightlife and accommodation listings.

Pack Light, Remix Your Wardrobe
When traveling, you should always try to pack light. For me, that’s always a challenge. But in the next couple of outfit posts I will show you how I re-mixed outfits and matched using a few key pieces. If I can do it, so can you! So remember, for your next get away, pack light and re-mix! Here are some fun places to visit when in Montreal…
Montreal Must-See Spots
The streets of Montreal are just lovely. It has a European feel with the beautiful cobblestone roads and architecture. There are lots of little shops featuring art, Native Indian pieces, souvenirs and good eats. And despite the cold, there is always a cozy place to have drinks in the charming city.
I was especially fascinated by the Notre Dame Basilica. It’s beautiful stained glass windows tell the story of Montreal’s religious history. Everything from the unique light show to the detailed altar and wooden carvings are absolutely amazing. The Basilica offers a light show in the evenings (which I highly recommend) or you can attend a mass for free.
The Big O
Another stop was at the famous Olympic Stadium in Montreal also known as the “Big O.” The NY Mets happened to be playing against the Toronto Blue Jays that weekend. The dome is quite a sight to see, very different than other stadiums I’ve been to before. I liked that it was cozier and indoors and the seating was pretty comfortable space wise. Canadians were very excited to finally attend another pro baseball game at the Big O. It was definitely something fun to do indoors- especially to stay out of the cold! brrrr I hope you enjoyed this post about my weekend visit to Montreal. I hope to visit again sometime during a warmer month.
