Whenever a person complains of back pain or not feeling well, they’re often told to take a warm shower. But while warm showers offer a calming, soothing solution, they may not be as beneficial as cold showers. Why are people so afraid of cold showers? Perhaps they don’t sound as inviting but they’re more beneficial than you may know.

Why a Cold Shower?
Ok, I know this is such a random topic but I promise to teach you what I’ve learned so keep reading. See, a while back, I discovered the benefits of cold showers. I always knew to finish washing my hair with a cold shot (last minute of the shower) for healthier, shinier locks. And I knew not to bathe in scorching water for better skincare. But that was about all I knew.
When I began to have flare-ups in my joints, I started to research natural remedies to find some relief. Of course, stress and anxiety were the root of all this and the rest was hereditary.
Just Breathe
I’ve always been a big believer in the power of breathing. I take deep breathes throughout the day and before bedtime. When I have time, I meditate. One night, while watching a show ( The Goop Lab with Gwenyth Paltrow), Wim Hof (aka the Iceman) was on. I was just fascinated by his method. The Wim Hof Method consists of meditation, breathing, and cold exposure. It helps improve immunity and it’s helped so many people with chronic diseases and mental illnesses.
I won’t get too much into Wim Hof’s history, he’s actually quite fascinating. You should google him! After watching that one episode, I dug a little deeper. I found the Iceman’s YouTube channel and downloaded his app. I was hooked! I’d be lying if I said I do this daily but I do it often. I watch a video (for the breathing part) and jump into a cold shower. And it works.
Not only has this method helped me with flare-ups and joint pain but also with anxiety and stress. I am definitely a believer.
